Never Forget
Updated: Oct 4
Do you remember your first thought when you heard of or saw the horror of 9/11?
I never used to have the television on in the daytime, and had phoned a friend about something random. Her voice sounded a little off. She didn't seem to want to discuss what I'd called her about. Perhaps 15 seconds into the conversation she said, "Don't you know what is happening?! Turn on your television."
I stood there with my mouth open staring as a second plane flew into the Tower, the fact dawning that this wasn't a tragic accident but a terror attack. My first coherent thought was, "We have to find the people that did this. Find them, strap them down and... preach the gospel to them non-stop! "
Not a typical response, I know.
I wasn't being pure of heart, though. I was thinking how much they would hate it, that it would be like torture to them. I was thinking how their demons would manifest, and how we could drive them crazy.
Eventually, though, because of the power of the Word, the demons would leave them and they would get saved. That would be a good thing, even though it was my retribution, in a sense.
If they got saved, I wouldn't even need for them to go to prison, because they would no longer be the people who did that unthinkable, detestable, inhuman thing. They would be new. creations. It would be "finished." I would be satisfied.
No matter what you have done -- rape, abort, steal, fear, gossip, hold a grudge, covet, dishonor, murder -- God sees you not just as forgiven, but as if your sin never happened, once you accept His son, Jesus.
Clean. Forever newborn. Refreshed.
And all it takes is to believe and speak it. Never forget that.
