Matt 28:19,20 ..."...make disciples...teaching them to observe ALL THINGS WHATSOEVER I have commanded you..."
ALL? We're to observe ALL THINGS?
We have made this commission into a call forconversions, not discipleship.
Jesus taught on everyday matters: marriage/divorce (Matt 19), civil court procedure (John 8), taxation ((Matt 25), employer/employee relationships (John 20).
These practical teachings are how we incorporate our Christianity into our everyday lives.
The Bible avoids no subjects -- forgiveness, prayer, finances, worship, child-rearing, health, receiving salvation & other blessings, sex, decision-making, politics & governance, work ethic, community. If it affects our lives, God addresses our participation in it and our commanded mindset toward it.
That's discipleship -- teaching others to do life as a new creation, according to Jesus' teachings and example.
That is what He commissioned us to do.
